Resiliente Kommunikationssysteme mit hoher Verfügbarkeit von Netzen und Geräten (RILKOSAN)

Motivation

Digitale Kommunikationssysteme sind integraler Bestandteil und Voraussetzung fĂŒr die Digitalisierung in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. Eine sichere und belastbare Kommunikation spielt eine entscheidende Rolle daher auch fĂŒr den zuverlĂ€ssigen Betrieb von industriellen prozesstechnischen Anlagen, die in RILKOSAN als Anwendungsfall avisiert werden. Diese komplexen digitalen Infrastrukturen bieten jedoch auch neue AngriffsflĂ€chen, die eine Bedrohung fĂŒr industrielle Prozesse darstellen. Das Projekt RILKOSAN befasst sich mit der WiderstandsfĂ€higkeit industrieller Kommunikationsnetze zwecks GewĂ€hrleistung einer hohen VerfĂŒgbarkeit industrieller Prozesse.

Industrielle Kommunikationssysteme unterscheiden sich von klassischen IT-Systemen durch eine enge VerknĂŒpfung mit der physikalischen Welt. Daraus ergeben sich neben den reinen Sicherheitsanforderungen an IntegritĂ€t und Vertraulichkeit auch strengere Anforderungen an Laufzeitverhalten, ZuverlĂ€ssigkeit und Ausfallsicherheit. FĂŒr die BerĂŒcksichtigung von Teilproblemen im Kontext industrieller Kommunikationsnetze existieren bereits Lösungen; die fĂŒr die Resilienz wichtige kollaborative Betrachtung von Sicherheits- und ZuverlĂ€ssigkeitszielen, die im Mittelpunkt von RILKOSAN steht, ist bislang jedoch noch nicht ausreichend untersucht worden.

Ziele und Vorgehen

Durch die Kombination einzelner widerstandsfĂ€higer Komponenten und ihre Einbettung in sichere Architekturen und fehlerĂŒberwachte Anwendungsumgebungen kann die WiderstandsfĂ€higkeit industrieller Kommunikationsnetze erheblich gesteigert werden. Um die oben genannten Ziele zu erreichen, werden Architekturen mit isolierten SicherheitsdomĂ€nen erforscht und in ein leichtgewichtiges hardwarebasiertes Sicherheitsmodul (L-HSM) integriert. Die UnabhĂ€ngigkeit der einzelnen Komponenten erzeugt Ausfallsicherheit bei TeilausfĂ€llen und ermöglicht den flexiblen Austausch von Komponenten.

Ein resilientes System ist nicht nur zuverlĂ€ssig oder sicher. Es sollte auch immer verfĂŒgbar sein, wenn es gebraucht wird.

Innovationen und Perspektiven

Durch die zunehmende digitale Vernetzung in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft werden digitale Infrastrukturen immer komplexer und bieten damit neue AngriffsflĂ€chen fĂŒr unbeabsichtigte – aber auch absichtlich herbeigefĂŒhrte – Störungen (Angriffe oder Manipulationen), die den ordnungsgemĂ€ĂŸen Ablauf wirtschaftlicher und gesellschaftlicher Prozesse bedrohen. Die Verbesserung der WiderstandsfĂ€higkeit und ZuverlĂ€ssigkeit von Kommunikationssystemen bildet daher die Grundlage von RILKOSAN.

Mit dem Projekt RILKOSAN werden folgende Ziele verfolgt:

 

  • Erhöhung der WiderstandsfĂ€higkeit von industriellen Kommunikationssystemen
  • Erhöhung der VerfĂŒgbarkeit von Kommunikationsnetzen und der in diese Netze integrierten GerĂ€te
  • Erforschung und Entwicklung von belastbaren Architekturen und speziellen Komponenten
